History of Company

Matesa Textile Corporation was founded in Maras in 1989. MATESA, which began as a yarn company, is one of the biggest and strongest textile companies of Europe by operating on 350,000 square meter open area and 305,000 square meter closed area covering 2 vertically integrated operations from yarn to ready-made knitted and woven (including denim) garments.

All stages of production from yarn to fabric located at Matesa’s central location in Kahramanmaras. With all operations located centrally, it enables Matesa to focus on high quality standards and provide a better service to our customers.
In 2006 Matesa Denim Factory became one of the biggest denim factories in Turkey. The trousers plant, which was taken over at the end of 2006, is the newest plant within Matesa constitution.

Operations

SPINNING: Matesa owns 7 yarn spinning facilities including 4 Open End (OE) and 3 Ring Spun facilities. Matesa Textile buys cotton from both Turkey and from around the world. There are total 12,128 rotors in our OE plants, and total of 67,872 spindles in our Ring plants. Our yarn spinning facility supplies all yarn requirements of knitting and weaving mills. This enables Matesa to increase quality standards at every stage of production and provide its customers consistent quality for every order.

OE factories have a monthly capacity of 1,400 tons of yarn, and Ring Spinning plants have a monthly capacity of 1,200 tons of yarns per month. Matesa’s yarn production counts ranges from NE 6/1 to Ne 100/1. Monthly twisting capacity is more than 135 MT up to Ne100/2. Compact yarn production was added in 2007.

All yarn requirements of knitting, weaving and denim plants are provided by these facilities.

KNITTING: A total of 134 machines at a 2 knitting factories within Matesa produce more than 1,000 MT of knitted fabric monthly. Knitted fabric production ranges from 13 to 36 inch-wide depending on specification. Tube or open-wide productions are done in our knitting plant depending on our customers’ demand. Knitting department also can provide printing and embroidery.

KNIT GARMENTS: Ready made garment production capacity is 500,000 pieces / month, 100% of which is for export.

WEAVING: The 182 machines in the weaving section have a monthly production capacity of 1,500,000 meters. Yarns are made ready for weaving by 2 serial warp, 2 conical warps and 2 sizing machines at the weaving department. Automatic drawing machines are used at the drawing department to attach the yarns which were curled by warping and sized, to weaving looms at the shortest time with no complications. At the weaving department, two sample warping machine are available to be able to respond customers’ sample demands with short lead times. Monthly, 450,000 meters of corduroy are produced by 2 corduroy machines at the weaving department with 8, 11 and 16 cord productions are done at the weaving section.

DENIM: The denim mill, equipped with latest technology to produce rope-dyed denim fabric with special finishes, has a monthly capacity of 2,400,000 meters on 160 weaving machines.

DENIM GARMENTS AND SPORTSWEAR: Denim & Sportswear Garment Plant, with its state of art facility and the machinery, manufactures denim and non-denim casual and high fashion casual garments for men and women. It has a monthly sewing and washing capacity of 250.000 pieces. Washing department is equipped with cutting edge machinery which allows garments to have different and unique effects.
