FAS Mission Statement
To create economic opportunity for American agriculture by expanding global markets.
CCI's Participation in FAS Programs
USDA's Foreign Agriculture Service plays an integral role in making many of CCI's programs possible. Specifically, CCI has been a cooperator in the Foreign Market Development (FMD) program since 1956. CCI has also been a participant in the USDA's Targeted Export Assistance (TEA), Market Promotion Program (MPP), and the Market Access Program (MAP) since 1986.
The goal of the FMD program is to develop, maintain, and expand long-term export markets for U.S. agricultural products, while the MAP program encourages the development, maintenance, and expansion of commercial export markets for agricultural commodities. Activities financed include consumer promotions, market research, technical assistance, and trade servicing.
